10C Season Report
It was a season of ups and downs for the 10c in 2023, and started with our first game being cancelled the week of the game with the opposition team withdrawing from the competition, luckily we were able to make other arrangements and had a friendly game against Bosco 10b side, although losing 2-5 it gave good insight into the abilities of the players as individuals and a team.
The next week we had a large win, unfortunately followed by a large loss in the next game but the boys regrouped and played well and put together a run of 3 wins, after that period we had a run of mostly really tight games ending up with either draws or losses for the remainder of the season, in the majority of the games there were moments the team werre playing so well as a team and improving their passing and control along with some outstanding individual efforts but unfortunately we still had to work on our consistent effort throughout the game with often slight lapses of concentration costing us.
A couple of the highlights when the boys played at their best included a close 2-3 loss in the last minute against Lilli Pilli who had proven themselves to be one of the top sides, other hard fought draws against St Pats and Marton and finally a 1-1 draw against Gymea the other top side in the comp to finish the season, these games proved that the talent and the commitment in the team was enough to match anyone.
We finished the season playing in the gala night and congratulations to the boys for their efforts in the gala night especially in a rematch against the Bosco 10b and then Menai 10b teams they played who were apparently 2 of the stronger 10b sides, the boys all played awesome in those 2 games and well deserved to come away with a 1-1 draw in both those games, the middle game was one to forget going down 1-2 but that how it goes sometimes when the concentration is not quite there.
Thankyou for allowing me to coach the boys, for getting them to training when possible and to the games. The season may have had its ups and downs but I think the boys proved many times when they are focused and playing as they can that they can match any team from the c’s or even the b’s, I believe they all improved individually and as a team during the season, they all have a lot of potential if they choose to put in some extra time with their own training which will enable them to push through to higher grades.
