10D Season Report
Sport is about more than the result and that has certainly been true this year. Not only did the boys have to adapt to new teammates, new field dimensions and bigger goals but they had to do so during the evolving health restrictions. Given these challenges it was fantastic to see each player not only work collaboratively to improve for the team but, through their combined efforts, also obtain some pleasing results.
Each match was competitive and saw the team pushing for a win right to the final whistle. Nowhere was this determination better seen then in the final round when the boys stayed calm after falling behind by 2 goals to go on to record a 4-2 victory. Each player contributed to a successful season with some highlights including;
Will – calm and collected at the back line and also responsible for launching many successful counterattacks.
Oliver – grew in confidence throughout the season until he was hunting down opposing wingers with great effectiveness.
Casey – made sure the opposition never got uncontested shots at goal and covered plenty of ground.
Jared – playing with older boys and with an injury for the majority of the season still refused to be beaten and was the one the team could always rely on to clear a dangerous ball.
Dash – over the season grew in confidence in the midfield to create some great attacking opportunities but also made sure that he was there for his teammates in defence.
Alex – used his speed well in both attack and defence as well as pulling off the save of the year when he stopped a direct penalty.
Jed – became increasingly adept at linking play between the midfield with strong through balls that created numerous goal scoring options for others
Remy – a real everywhere man. Scored some great goals, set up others and scrambled well in defence.
Lachie – great positional play, was always in the right spot and scored several crucial goals.
Ben – provided great direction and support going forward in attack with some silky passes thrown in for good measure.
Matthew – played all over the pitch as needed but had most success using his left foot to play some pin point passes through defenders to teammates or scoring several goals himself
Jacob – used his speed, drive and accuracy to led our goal scorers for the year
It was a pleasure coaching all the boys.
