10E Season Report
This year less rounds and more restrictions but … bigger field, bigger team and more rules. Over all the U10E had a great season and really came together as a team. With the changes the boys developed a further understanding of tactics placement and teamwork and as this clicked they became a team that delivered strong performances.
Each player also started to show a prevalence for certain positions.
Jack and Kieran had the necessary skills and speed for a great effort as strikers constantly attacking the back line and goals of the opposing team.
Our mid fielders developed all round skills sometimes moving forward to attack and when needed dropping back to shore up a defence. Patrick, Archie, Riley, Jacob, Raf and Jarryd formed the core of the team going where was needed and making the vital link between the defence and attack and now that the field opened up leading to some awesome play down the wings.
In defence the boys learned that it was not only the goalie’s responsibility to defend against the opposition scoring it was a whole team effort and our defenders continuously intercepted and cleared the ball out of the danger zone. Ryan, Micah and Nate performed admirably in the role and formed the second last line of defence for the team.
Then there was the goalie. Every team member who wanted a turn got to defend goals however Liam got the lion share becoming the dedicated goalie for the U10E and managed to keep our for and against respectable.
To thank for all of this improvement placement, teamwork, skills and understanding of the game was Andrew the coach. With his training session and coaching during the game, “man on” and “you’ve got time” being called with regularity, the boys excelled and focused.
Engadine Eagles brought the boys together in a trying time. 2020 soccer was a good time for the whole U10E team.
