12B Season Report
Coach: Rudy V
Manager: Cassandra J
As we come to the end of another season we reflect on the year our 12Bs have had, filled with growth, teamwork, dedication and the progress they have achieved together. We’ve celebrated victories, learned from challenges, and grown not only as football players but also as individuals.
Season kick off – The boys will remember their 2nd game of the season in pouring torrential rain at Greenhills Kurnell, they were freezing cold, wet and soggy. The ball wasn’t moving and their boots filled with water. They were getting into cars with heaters on to stay warm during their subs. This game the boys went down by a big score to LP-2. This was to be the game that reshaped the rest of the season, going on to only lose 1 other game in the normal season and finishing second on the table. They used this game as fuel and fired up!
The boys trained hard during the week, they learnt new skills and drills, they were dedicated at training, and this was reflected on game days.
Game days – This was the first year the boys played competition football on a full size field. The excitement was heightened with referees and linesmen and a full season played with no washed out games. We displayed tight defence and speed in our attack, the boys played exciting football. They laughed and celebrated many goals together and found encouraging words for each other to get through tough moments of the game.
There were many “outstanding moments” from our boys this season including incredible goals, game winning goalie saves and important game saving tackles.
The boys embraced the lessons from losses and setbacks and showed resilience and determination to bounce back in pivotal moments of games.
Congratulations boys on making it to the grand final this year, not everyone gets to experience a grand final day and you should all be proud of yourselves and your team for making it this far.
Off the field – Our team was lucky enough to celebrate many more moments off the field with lawn bowls, dinners and pizza after training organised by our very supportive manager Cass.
Coaches words – A special thank you to our team captain Thomas. Thomas showed great leadership throughout the season both on and off the field and during training. He was always encouraging his team mates and guiding them around the park from the goals. Thomas played through our GF with a fractured thumb, this showed how much Thomas was committed to his team, his spirit and passion for the game. Thank you Thomas.
Also to Brendan and James, thank you for helping on game days and training, your support is appreciated.
Coaches award –
With a big group of 15 boys and having to choose only 1 player to receive the award is difficult for any coach especially with so many talented and deserving players.
This year the award goes to Hayden.
Hayden has been our most reliable and consistent player throughout the entire season never missing a training or game. Hayden consistently turns up to training ready and willing to go. During the season Hayden was challenged by me to play in various positions on the field from forward to mids and ending the season in the backs, he always took on the challenge willingly and with a big “OK coach” and smile to match. Well done on a great season Hayden.
To our manager Cass, thank you for everything you have done for our team, always going above and beyond ensuring our team is up to date, aware of any changes and well informed the boys and the families all appreciate how much you do.
I would also like to make a huge mention to the parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, siblings and friends who showed unwavering support throughout the entire season. Thank you for being part of this journey. You cheered us on through the cold mornings and sunshine, we couldn’t have gotten all the way to the grand final without your support.
Lastly to the boys, I am so proud of you all. Keep working hard, keep playing hard and never give up the dream.
Rudy.
