What a season! With a good bunch of returning players and an injection of new blood we started the season off with a bang with a 10-2 win which was a sign of great things to come. We took a few games for everyone to find their feet and positions but once we had that down pat we were a tough team to beat, only losing 5 games of our 17 played games. It was awesome to get some training time in with the kids this year after last seasons struggle to get together besides the games. All the kids came together well as a team and that really showed in the second half of our semi final where they all gave it everything and were unlucky not to make a big comeback. Enough from me now onto the kids :-

The Team :-

Keepers – Cameron, Ash and Cooper C.

Cameron and Ash did the bulk of the job in between the sticks. Both were awesome and reliable and kept us in the game many times. Cooper smashed it when he had a chance with the goalie gloves on too.

Backs – Parker, Spencer, Mark, Angus, Cooper C, Sofia

Great season had by our back line. Spencer and Parker were the brick wall in centre back of the park stopping many goals and controlling the back line. Mark, Angus, Cooper C and Sofia always gave it their all and made it hard for the other team to get the ball into our box to get the shots off!

Mids – Lachlan, Kayden, Ben, Riley, Cooper M, Kade

The kids in the mids! All gave it their best each game, scoring, setting up goals and scrambling in defence when needed. Kayden, Lachlan, Ben and Riley our centre mids got the job of the most running and handled it well. Cooper M and Kade were our main men on the wings running like yo-yo’s up and down the field!

Strikers – Dustin, Bryce and Ash

The finishers of the team! Not always an easy spot to play in the first year of soccer but the boys did it with ease knocking away some goals and getting back and helping out in defence when we needed it!

Thanks to all the parents for your support this season, without you guys getting the kids to training and the games we would not have a team.

A big thank you to Chris for all your help with the kids this year and The Wife, Jenny for your managerial skills.

Hope the kids enjoyed it as much as I did and look forward to doing it all again next year. Spreadsheets will be at the ready!
