U13E-1 Season Report
The U13E-1s have had an amazing season. This was the third year that most of these boys had played together, but we also had a couple of new additions that were welcomed into the team.
It was the first year that the team made it to the Grand Finals, after holding on to 2nd place for most of the competition.
There were plenty of ups and a few downs during the season, with rained out games and a couple of losses, but the team never let it get them down. Under the guidance of Coach Dan, the team kept a positive outlook. Dan has great soccer knowledge to draw from and was able to make the team listen and understand, helping to improve their performance each week.
We had keen rivalry with Grays Point, who maintained top position throughout the season. We struggled to get the better of them during the league games, but everybody played their hearts out in the Grand Final to hold Grays Point to a draw. While not quite enough to win the competition, the team were gracious in defeat, and will work hard to take the title next year.
A team is nothing if they can’t work together, and these guys have proven they can play off each other and take on the best in the division.
Marcus – a little hesitant to take a full-time role as Goalkeeper, but has absolutely owned the goal this season, helping to give us the highest Goal Difference in the division.
Blake – an absolute solid defender. Blake has stopped the opposition short on many occasions and has also proven he can hold his own further up the pitch.
Archie – the Centre of our Defence, also the centre of our team. Archie has had a great season, even racking up a couple of goals. Archie was the winner of the Coaches Award this season.
Cody – Liked nothing more than getting in a tangle with the largest forwards. Cody always held his ground and was an invaluable part of the defensive line.
Jared – makes defending look easy with his casual demeanour but has the pace to keep up with the fastest strikers and turn the ball around.
Jack – our everywhere man, Jack did an amazing job of filling any position on the field and used his speed to get to the ball first.
Mason – covered the right wing with great pace. Mason has an ability to keep the ball in play and get it through to the strikers.
Noah – our left-footed left winger covered a lot of ground and sent many a great through-ball to the strikers to be knocked into the back of the net.
Aiden – a new team mate this year. Aiden has been a big presence in the midfield, working with Milo and Dennis to turn the ball around and push back on the opposition.
Milo – Milo’s small size and boundless energy made him a perfect addition to the midfield, where he has run rings around the opposition.
Dennis – ‘the menace’ has excelled in upsetting the opposition with his ability to cover every position at once and deposit the ball nicely in the goal. All in his first year as part of the team.
Eden – pushed for a roll up the front, and has proven himself capable by leaning hard on the opposition, even scoring one of the goals in our Grand Final.
Jasper – Always keen to score a hat-trick in all of his games, Jasper has accomplished this on quite a few occasions, helping to push the team up the table.
Quinn – Fast as lightning, Quinn was able to speed past the opposition, and rack up a great goal tally.
We’re all looking forward to chasing the title next season!
Thanks,
Russell
