U14A Season Report
What a fantastic year the 14A’s have had!!
So far 2024 has been the team’s most successful year yet!
The weather did not rain on our parade, and we continued to train at 5 sports to keep the momentum going.
We finished the comp in 2nd place behind our nemesis team, Gwaley Bay.
Our semi was a hard-fought battle as we clawed our way back from being 2-1 down at half time. With grit and determination our boys dug deep and bagged 2 goals late in the second half to win the game 3-2 over Gwaley Bay.
We had now entered unfamiliar territory, our first ever grand final!
The boys kept their cool and were able to bag the first goal. Gwaley Bay responded with ferocity and scored 2 goals just before half time! Our boys knew they had a fight on their hands for the last 30 minutes and fight they did!
Plenty of opportunities for us but the goals seemed to elude us! We just didn’t quite get there and lost gallantly 2-1.
There were many disappointed faces when the final whistle went but we couldn’t be prouder. This year may not have been our year, but this group of young men banded together and never gave up! They held their heads high and played with determination, passion and sportsmanship that was first class.
This year we welcomed new players like old friends. They show up each week and trained hard. They support each other on and off the field with such camaraderie and have a never give up attitude.
Their skills and game play continue to grow and develop each week, and they continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
They are an absolute pleasure to coach and manage and it is a privilege to be part of this journey with them.
To the parents, grandparent’s siblings and fans, thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We have greatly appreciated everything you do and the cheering from the sidelines.
Each of these young men has brought their own unique personality and magic to the team and played their hearts out all season.
This year the coaches award goes to Jack Linsell. Jack is essential in our line of defence. He is consistent and calm each week. Jack works hard and continues to grow and improve with every season. He gives his everything to every minute of every game. Jack is reliable, calm, determined, passionate and impossible to get passed on the field. We want to congratulate Jack on a wonderful season, and he is so very deserving of this award.
A special mention to our team photographer, Tiara. Every Saturday afternoon we wait with desperate anticipation for the games photos to be uploaded. Tiara you have given us such wonderful memories of an amazing season. We are all truly grateful.
To all of you, congratulations on a truly fantastic season of football and bring on 2025!!
