15B Season Report
Well it was a tough old year for the boys. Unfortunately the boys were probably graded wrong so they were behind the eight ball from the outset. But to the boy’s credit they hung in there all season and gave their best effort each and every week.
With some of the boys having played together over previous years, it made the team come together nicely and with the addition of some new faces to the club, the team was complete. The club gained 4 new players from Heathcote, Jackson, Josh, Lucas, Zac, which helped give the club more numbers to field three teams, which was enormously helpful. I hope your time with the team was enjoyable and you and your families felt welcomed by the club.
The season kicked off against probably the strongest team in the competition Gymea at Gymea, and we were convincingly beaten eight nil. But to the boy’s credit they bounced back the following weekend against Miranda on a hot day at Anzac winning 2 – 1, with no players on the bench, a gutsy win by all accounts. The boys fought hard all year for quite a few draws and played some good team football across the rest of the season.
All the boys were a pleasure to coach, however training was a bit of a challenge with 14, 15 year old boys doing their thing, there was never a dull moment, certainly some funny times.
Thanks to Greg Knowles for always helping out with training and taking the team on game day when I wasn’t available, your efforts were very much appreciated, by myself & the team.
To Jen and Karen, two of the best managers getting around, keeping the team informed throughout the season and taking care of all the game day duties, so myself and Greg could just get the boys ready to play.
Thanks to all the parents for your endless support of the boys, whether getting them to training, or game day, they obviously couldn’t do it without you.
And to wrap it up, a huge thank you to all committee members at the Eagles who continually give up their time each and every week so our kids can turn up and play with their mates and make life long friendships out of sport.
Andrew
