16A Season Report
From the coaches – This was our 4th season having the privilege of coaching these lads, and once again we were amazed with the level of hard work, determination, teamwork, skill, and passion that these boys demonstrated this season. To come up from the B’s into the A’s and finish 3rd is a massive achievement that every single player and parent should be proud of. We love coaching this team and seeing them grow up into the outstanding young men that they all are becoming, and we can’t wait to see what they can do in the 18’s next season.
Thanks,
Adam and Niam.
Coaches Award – Josh Watson
Ben – As solid as a keeper can come. His leadership from between the sticks is commendable and vastly improved as well as his distribution. We lost count of the amount of otherwise certain goals he saved. His insane saves this season and leadership qualities as our captain proved pivotal to our 3rd place finish.
Bailey – Bailey brings plenty of passion to this team. Whether he runs fearlessly into tackles or when the gloves are on he always is giving 100%. Bailey has improved leaps and bounds this past year and should be proud of his efforts this season.
Lachlan – Lachlan has an understanding of the game well beyond his years. Whether it is reading the play while he is defending or coming higher up the pitch to assist in the attack he can do it all. We wish him a speedy recovery after his unfortunate injury on the last game of the season.
Matt – Matty is one of the most dedicated people in this team and showed by his constant improvement on the field. He brings a calmness when he’s on the ball or when he’s defending he will fearlessly take on anyone no matter the speed or the size. If we could we would award Matt with the most improved award after turning into a completely different player from who he was in previous seasons.
Jamo – Jamo’s addition to this team fits like a glove. Whether it was his tenuous tackles, his aerial duels or his cheeky goals from corners he brought everything to the game and to training. We are looking forward to coaching him in future seasons.
Zac – Zac had yet another outstanding season in defence this year. Never afraid to go up for a header or get stuck in with a slide tackle, you would always feel confident when Zac was in defence or helping the team in midfield.
Dale – Dale is our steady hand and leader in defence. He is not afraid to tackle hard or go for headers with his aerodynamic mullet. Along with stopping countless goals throughout the season, Dale also scored the goal of the season with a 40+ yard free kick in extra time of our first finals game to send us through.
Josh – Our powerhouse midfielder. Josh always puts in his absolute best, constantly chasing the ball and trying to be involved in play wherever the ball is. His ability to take charge and control the game is commendable. His leadership and passion radiates to all of his teammates and you can see both the tangible and intangible ways he impacts the game. We are extremely proud of the player and person Josh is becoming on and off the pitch, and as such believe he deserves our coaches award for the 2022 season, congratulations Josh.
Brad – Brad could break apart c and d in the alphabet. Brad’s personality also shone through As he created many different partnerships on the pitch. Brad’s positivity was infectious in the team as he always found a way to boost people’s spirits.
Aiden – Aiden always came to a game with a point to prove. He rapidly got comfortable in the midfield and his constant improvement and hard work got rewarded in the semi finals with a goal. Great job on an impressive first season with us.
Jye – You would never see Jy without a ball at his feet. He could wriggle his way out of any situation with his pace or his close quarters dribbling. Always an attacking threat on the wing. Jye has a lot of untapped potential that we can’t wait to see in future seasons.
Kye – It seems Kye was trying to impress a certain special someone on the sidelines this season as he put in his best season by far this year, improving his work rate, aggression and flexibility to give his all for his team in multiple positions.
Archie – Archie improved his game all round. Could play him anywhere and he would always give a hundred percent. He got faster, taller and would run through a brick wall if you told him there was a ball on the other side of it.
Jake – This was Jake’s first season with us and he fit right in giving his all every game despite dealing with an injury for large parts of the season. He was always a threat no matter where we played him contributing to several important goals.
Parker – Parker self appointed himself as the 3rd coach this season and showed it with his immense passion, work rate, and tactical nous. Parker would do anything to win and it showed, finishing the season as our top goal scorer. Parker should be extremely proud of the season he had.
