35D Season Report
Coming off 2019 being a season that never was, 2020 shaped up to the season that could… and ended up being the season that could have been.
Strong recruiting by our scouts in the off-season, presented us with a pretty solid outfit for season 2020 and as much as we put in a genuine challenge, it just wasn’t to be – but it was a real laugh.
Highlights of the year have to include Steve’s two cracking goals against Cronulla (seems that it ended there), Mick-Dog prematurely celebrating his goal only to see it bounce over the cross bar, Tonna missing from something like 8mm from the open goal line and we have to throw the Hand of God in there!
Congratulations Mick-Dog on the Golden Boot (I think) and Tim and the handsome-Indian for sharing the spoils of Players Player.
However according to Michael, the unofficial season accolades went to:
Goal save of the year: Pete v St Pats
Goal of the year: Sarge v Menai
Most goals: ???
Most reds: Pete
Most yellows: Dirty
Most win tossers: Henry
Best Ranga: Scoop
Best toe-poke: Gave
Best I pod carrier: Chappo
Favourite Indian: Pete
Nicest Dutchmen: Marcel
Best educational player: Tom
Best former 45E player: Chops
Best Dad: Tonna
Best no show: Bradley
Best scaredy cat of clowns: Timothy
After a nightmare of a 2019 it was great to get a decent bunch of guys together and have a decent season. Here’s hoping that we keep much of the squad together for 2021, so we can knuckle down and probably fail miserably once again – but have a laugh doing it!
