6A Season Report
Season 2021 came and went before we really knew it had begun. Unfortunately, it was another year interrupted by COVID, BUT – what a great year it was!
Our team came together without the boys really knowing each other or even playing together before, but the boys got along really well from the start. Even though some of the boys hadn’t played before and the rest coming from lower grades in 2020, we were graded as A’s. We knew it was going to be a massive challenge!
From the early days, the boys clicked at training and the hard work didn’t take long to show. Round 1 was against Georges River and our mighty Eagles showed their skill and hunger for the ball running out 8-3 winners. The next few games were much tougher including a very hard match against the Possums who I’m sure will all go on to play for the Socceroos one day. That game really got the fire burning in our little warriors, as from that point on, they won every game, some by big margins.
Even though it’s nice to win most of your games in a season, the thing that makes a coach happiest is seeing his players having fun, playing hard – but fair and most importantly improving every week.
Archie – Our pocket dynamo! We could always rely on him to defend our goal and tackling much bigger opponents never worried him!
Harvey – Our quiet achiever! Started the season shyly, but grew into a tough as nails tackler and was the most improved player in our team!
Isaac – Our Energiser Bunny! Isaac never stopped running, whether it was to sprint up the field to score one of his many goals or to hurry back to stop the opposition, he would always get there!
Mickey – Tricky Mickey! Gave the coach many proud Dad moments and has come a long way since the kid that was too nervous to take the field at the start of 2020.
Ray – Mr. Happy! Ray always played with a smile on his face, always listened at training and scored lots of goals!
Thanks for a great season boys! It was a pleasure to coach you, I hope you all had as much fun as I did.
Thanks to the parents for your wonderful support throughout the season, at training and games.
Last, but definitely not least, a huge thanks to Mel for her efforts and organisation as team manager! You made my job easy! Also, thanks for the half-time oranges and post-game lollies!
Hope to see you all in 2022.
Andy.
