6A Season Report
6A Report
A fantastic first year of soccer for our 5 superstar players, all of whom improved immeasurably over the course. The boys were energetic of a Thursday afternoon, shooting, passing, running, dribbling and tackling their hearts out, and best of all, becoming great little friends as they learned more and more about the game. We were very fortunate to have 5 boys and 5 families who all had the same outlook on under 6 soccer; fun, a fair go and learning the game, were our focus. Our sportsmanship grew throughout the year and became a real highlight, as our boys were always quick to check on an injured opponent, help him to his feet, and in one instance even get him a lolly pop to cheer him up! This was the most important lesson we learned and I hope it is one the boys maintain throughout their soccer and lives.
Ewen – the youngest member of the team but with the biggest heart. Ewen’s kicking developed throughout the year and his big boot got us out of many tight spots. A great listener, committed team man and enthusiastic trainer have Ewen well set to dominate Under 6’s next year.
Marius – his first year at the Eagles and second year of soccer. Marius’ ball control, dribbling and shooting were outstanding and some of the tight angles he squeezed goals through (with both feet!) were amazing. Best of all Marius led the charge with his growing sportsmanship and care for others.
Spencer – another player with a second year in Under 6’s in 2024, Spencer is a tough as nails midfielder with a huge engine. He scored some great goals, especially when his cousin’s were in the crowd, and made some amazing last ditch tackles. An asset to any team!
Archie – a natural born defender saw Archie quickly cement his place in the heart of our defence. Archie’s kicking and dribbling both improved significantly throughout the year and he almost bobbed up for a goal or two. Archie never stopped smiling and was our official half-time orange connoisseur.
Brodie – another with a big motor, Brodie would run all day and try his absolute hardest in every match. He was a specialist at the kick-in, great at organising the boys to “spread out” and scored the self-described “wonder goal” which was matched only by his wonder celebrations!
Special mentions as well to the wonderful fill-ins who helped us throughout the season – Harry, Bailey and Lexi. Lastly, from Andrew and Joel, a massive thanks to the parents who supported us all year and saw the game the same way we did. The boys had a ball and I am sure they are counting down the days until the next soccer season starts!
