6H Season Report
What a season it was! A year of many firsts. Lots of the boys playing in their first ever season and majority of them only being 4 years old. Plus, yours truly doing his first season ever holding the clipboard and not really knowing what to expect. I remember thinking early on am I out of my dept with this, however I quickly realised I was blessed with no ordinary team. I was given a great bunch of boys and the parents that came with them made my job so easy as were all so supportive of myself and the boys which in turn gave us massive confidence. As the season progressed, seeing how much the boys all improved as football players was highly satisfying to watch! However as great as that was, it wasn’t my favourite part. My favourite part was seeing 7 boys coming together with most having never met one another before but becoming great friends by season end was what topped it for me personally. I hope all the boys continue with their football from here on, and I look forward to seeing them progress further at Eagles which I know they all will!
A quick rundown of the all-star players from U6H-2:
Talon – Our muscle at the backline. I lost count of how many goals Talon saved this season where he has come flying in from nowhere to save a sure goal! As great as Talon was without the ball, he was also a force to be reckoned with the ball too. He had a great trick move rolling the ball back before burning opposition players and scoring plenty of goals too.
Huxley – The smallest person in the team but had the biggest heart. Hux had speed to burn and was everywhere and never took a backwards step no matter the height difference. Scored a great runway goal at the halfway mark too!
Callum – I credit Callum for bringing a lot of the boys out of their shell early in the season with his infectious energy. From day one he just embraced everyone and it created a fun culture. No one did the “Eagles Cry” better than Callum. His skills improved so much towards the end of the season, and I hope to see him progress further next year.
Jay – Jay was the silent assassin of the team. The quiet achiever that had great dribbling skills – he often zig-zagged his way out of trouble and found the back of the net plenty of times as well. Was a pleasure to coach!
Locke – Our long-range bomb goal specialist! Locke literally had it all! There was nowhere he couldn’t score goals from. He bailed out the team many times to win us games. A future Premier League Player in the making!
Jacob – Mr Chatterbox. When Jacob was in the mood, he was dangerous, he was a great motivator in training sessions – king of the pirate game.
Cooper – One of the youngest on the team, Coops improved so much as the season went on and got more involved in the matches. He was also my soundboard when I dreamt up new training drills and told me what worked and didn’t.
