7D Season Report
What a Brilliant team the “UNDEFEATED” Under 7D’s grew to become in the 2020 season!!
Observing our team this year was rewarding for both the players & parents. With the season up in the air, once we found out that we could start training ahead our first match it was all systems go. It’s not just the players that need acknowledgment in this report, but families of our team that proactively followed the guidance notes delivered to us from SSFA to maintain our social responsibility as a sporting community. Well done families!!
The committee of EEFC also need to be praised for the efforts given to the club to enable us to play out the 2020 season, where additional endurance of club commitment and management was required.
This season the players of the 7D’s displayed commitment to the sport, motivation and athleticism, growing as a team under the guidance of coach Daniel Marczuk.
Daniel undoubtably had the attention of these boys and offered the support required as a grassroots coach. One of the technique’s instilled was the introduction of playing a position and ensuring the boys were acknowledged when position tactics where advantageous to the team. Training was never a chore, and parent involvement was often required for “Kids Vs Parents” games. I’m sure this lent to the bravery of these young boys when faced with larger opponents or encountering on field combat when numbers were stacked against them as individuals.
If these boys can take anything from this season, it will be to never kick the ball across the goal, and to help everyone up after a fall including the opposition players.
Kaden Marczuk, displayed time and time again how well he can manage a soccer ball and maturely read the plays unfolding on the field in front of him. His ability to forecast where the ball will go next or where the opposition will be of most threat is outstanding. If the ball was in our half, Kaden would strategically position himself into the most defensive location to protect our goal or an unmarked area of the field. These skills alone make Kaden somewhat a cornerstone of the team. However, his strong sporting attitude, and having no issue toughing out an eyewatering bump to the nose to not miss a minute of game time are also commendable.
Tate Morris, brings refreshing meaning to the word determination!! Once the ball reaches Tate’s feet it’s pretty rare that he can’t find a way out of the pack and make a break for it. Opposition players have tried to run him down once he gets going but he has yet to be caught. His determination in front of goals has also rewarded him personally and of course the team with his ability to find the back of the net. Tate has noticeably matured throughout the season and will continue to be an asset to the team.
Chase Denham, Our left foot striker that has natural ability to get the ball off the ground and moving!! For those of us that have witnessed this on the sideline, you’re more than likely to cringe next time the ball rolls towards him and opposition players are in the line of fire….Chase has shown us throughout the season he has most success with cutting the ball across the field or taking technical shots. The greater the angle required the higher the frequency rate of him burying the ball in the net. This even occurs from the half way sideline!! Chase is a committed player that wears his heart on his sleeve, and has the left hand side of the field covered!
Samuel Blake, Tenacity throughout the season lead to some of his best games and a couple of impressive goals when the team needed them the most. Samuel showed no fear going against opposition players regardless of their size. Add this to an unlimited tank of energy that he used to propel himself to the opposition every time the whistle blew, fills a big part in the delivery of pressured defence and forcing quick unplanned decision making from the opposing team.
Jarvis Richmond, Started the season with a passion for the tricky moves to get around his defenders. However, by the end of the season his love of technical footwork coupled with his emerging ability to strike the ball landed some amazing goals. Most memorable for Jarvis would be the one from half way, over the top of the opposition players and into the net. This 2020 season Jarvis has noticeably advanced in many disciplines required as soccer player, as part of a team and individually!
From here these boys will continue their comradery in the off-season having entered into a summer soccer comp as the same huddle. This of course will only further refine and develop their skills until next year when they again don the blue and white stripes of EEFC for 2021.
Stephen Richmond,
Manager 7D’s (2020)
