7G-2 Season Report
It was a really up and down season for the 7Gs in terms of results, but nevertheless it was clear as the season progressed that the team were working hard on their skills, and by the end of the season their passing, positional play, and coordination as a team unit had improved out of sight from the beginning of the season. It’s a credit to the boys, and to our coach Troy Pastro, that they are looking well prepared to tackle the bigger field in the U8s next year!
Talon Anderson: From the very beginning, you could tell Talon had been working hard in the off season. He had mastered a number of impressive ball skills, and by mid season he had begun to master his passing, which made a massive difference to how cohesive the side was, along with his many goals and his tireless determination. Talon had a sterling season this year – well done mate!
Jesse Eisenhuth: Jesse had a strong season, adding to the skills he had already developed in the U6s. His sense of where to be in attack and ability to move the ball upfield showed the makings of an excellent midfielder/striker, and he was rewarded with a number of great goals this season. Nice work Jesse!
Kobi Eisenhuth: Our littlest member was as brave as a Matilda to play with a team a few years older than her, but she took it in her stride and played a number of great games at the beginning of the season. She truly set herself up for a great start to her soccer journey, well done Kobi!
Finnegan Layton: Where was this little soccer player hiding? Finnie came out of his shell towards the end of the season, becoming brave enough to get close to the ball and show everyone the skills he had been developing under Coach Troy. He was rewarded with his first goal and some great performances, well done Finnie!
Hayden Pastro: Our Mister Dependable, Hayden worked hard (to exhaustion sometimes) in both defence and attack, coordinating well with Talon to make impressive set plays which made our parents gasp in amazement! His kicking ability is already at a level where he is ready for the big field and I predict that he will settle in to the U8s nicely. Great season Hayden!
Logan Taylor: Logan was very much the glue that kept our team together. His great speed down the fringes and subsequent passing was the background work behind a lot of goals, but it was his instinctive position play which demonstrated the beginnings of a keen soccer mind, suited to coordinating attack or defence. Logan will thrive in the older grades, great season mate!
