Team: Mickey Jones, Jackson Pearce, Thomas Poole, Fletcher Leven, Jordan Brain, Isaac Stuckey, Ray Logie, Charlie Jones and Logan Beattie.

This was our first year of transitioning from the smaller pitch to a larger field, introducing a Goalkeeper, throw ins and extra players on the field. Anyone would have thought that the boys had been playing on a bigger pitch for a few years. They adapted so quickly. The boys were very driven and competitive throughout the season.

The boys displayed teamwork, positive encouragement, ball control and support play during training on a weekly basis and then on match day they put it all to good use. Goalkeepers were rotated each half of the game and every player was so determined and quick to put their hand up to volunteer for this position which was great to see.

Improvement was seen each week. They learned to play in positions and communicate well on the field and if they lost a few games, it didn’t diminish their enjoyment.

Although there was no official table for this age group, the boys positioned in the upper half of the competition. Such a competitive competition.

At the end of the season the boys participated in the Sylvania Heights FC Under 8’s Gala Day. Having played their pool games impressively and in style winning 3 games and 1 loss we advanced to the semi finals going down in a narrow loss 2-1 to Menai. This ended an enjoyable season. Great prospects of the future for the Engadine Eagles.
