8E Season Report
The 8E’s had a slow start to the season. Being a new team they spent some time getting to know each other and find their groove, which they did.
Unfortunately COVID cut the season short right at the time these boys were gaining some momentum. With some losses early on in the season they were now starting to turn things around. These boys are a determined bunch, who no matter what just kept trying. They didn’t let the score get the better of them and kept up the fight until the end.
Tyson, such an enthusiastic and passionate player. Tyson loved being in goals and showed a natural talent for defence. His kicking strength was awesome and he cleared many balls away from our goal mouth. Tyson always gave the game everything he had.
Findley was also a natural in defence and was always rushing to keep the ball away from our goal keeper. His kicking skills improved greatly over the season and he tried hard every week.
Maksyn put his best effort in at training and every game. He always listened carefully and was developing some great game anticipation on the field. His understanding of the game improved and his kicking skills did also. Maks is a great team player and displayed great sportsmanship.
Cooper was always making us laugh. He always had a smile on his face and no matter what happened in the game he’d pick himself up. He had some great saves in goals and he worked hard to improve his dribbling and passing skills.
Ryan showed quiet determination and some great dribbling. He worked hard in the forwards and was instrumental in setting up some goals. He quietly went about the game getting it done. His confidence and kicking improved every week and he always gave his best.
Bailey showed enthusiasm for goal keeping and also loved being up front where there was a chance to score a goal, which he occasionally did. Bailey was developing a good understanding of the game and was starting to find open spaces for scoring opportunities.
Griffin put in 100% effort in training and the game. He always listened for instructions and tried to put training skills into practice. He was a great all-rounder covering a lot of ground and improved week after week.
Curtis, our sneaking assassin. Curtis worked hard at training and on the field. Every week he got better and tried harder. He showed a good understanding of passing and moving forward. He played well up front but always made sure he helped out in defence as well.
It was disappointing the season was cut short when the boys were finally starting to find their groove. These boys improved every week and regardless of the score gave it their best shot.
Thank you to Julie, our manager, who kept us in order every week and made sure we got to the right games.
Thanks to all our lovely parents and grandparents who braved the cold every week to get the boys to those early games on time. Thanks for all the support and encouragement you gave the boys and me no matter the score.
I have enjoyed getting to know the boys this year and have loved watching them grow as players. They are a great bunch of kids and I feel lucky to have shared in their soccer experiences.
Well done boys!
Shelley
