U9D Season Report
As the season kicked off with a meet and greet we all enjoyed meeting everyone ready for a great season. The kids got to know each other for the first time. While some of the boys went to school together, they all quickly found new friends that love the game. Unfortunately, our first game was a wash out and sadly this set the benchmark for the entire season.
Each game we got to play was a blessing and all the boys gave every bit of effort not knowing if the next week was going to be rained out again.
As the season progressed the teamwork improved, and the boys were able to string together pass after pass. Each player has developed their skills throughout the season with a huge commitment from the coaching staff and parents alike.
Each game the sideline support crew grew and effortlessly cheered on the team and celebrated the boys’ efforts and victories. Each week the boys demonstrated their sportsmanship by cheering on not only each other but also congratulating the opposition at the end of each game and should be proud of their efforts this season.
Blake Nelson: The Joker of the team, Blakes confidence level on the ball grew throughout the season. Blakes determination shone through allowing him to make some brilliant defensive goal line saves followed by his tenacious attacking skills when bringing the ball down field. As the season progressed Blake came to realize that even though he could do everything on his own, teamwork makes the dream work.
Bradley Francis: The team’s toughest and most reliable defensive player, Brad is the ultimate quiet achiever. Brad’s ability to read the play and to position himself correctly in defense ensured numerous attacking opportunities for opposition teams were thwarted. Brad’s defensive clearances became a consistent feature of the boys games.
Ethan Chung: The team’s most steadfast player, Ethan has developed into a determined defensive player freely applying his newly developed skills. Small but mighty Ethan was able to pack a punch throughout the season with killer tackles and pin point passes.
Jack Fitz-Gibbon: The team’s quiet assassin, Jack developed many new attacking skills ensuring a nice goal tally at the end of the season. Jack’s ability to position himself in the right place at the right time allowed some clinical finishing, ensuring vital wins for the team this season.
Jarvis Dunne: The team’s most effective all round player, Jarvis was always happy to play every position. With his all round game Jarvis was as solid in defense as he was when attacking all while maintaining a calming presence on the game. Jarvis’ commitment to his training shone through each and every game day.
Kaden Thompson-Pickering: The team’s free kick specialist, Kaden was able to use his powerful right foot to deliver numerous free kicks assisting in a number of goals. As the season progressed Kaden used his fancy footwork to bedazzle the opposition and land a number of powerful goals.
Mason Cotton: The team’s leading goal scorer with 11 goals this season, Masons ability to read the play and intercept passes lead to an almighty goal haul this season. As one of the smallest players on the team Mason leads with a mighty powerful left footed boot.
Miik Theissen: The team’s energiser bunny, Miik never gave up a chase and often found himself setting up or defending many a goal. Miik’s never say die attitude saw him use his pace to cover the entirety of the field each and every game. Miik has developed into a consistent team player that his teammates came to depend upon.
Rocco Carolan: The team’s smiling enforcer, Rocco could always be counted on to throw in the most epic of slide tackles to interrupt the passage of play. Developing his confidence throughout the season Rocco increasingly used his height to his advantage to take the ball out of the air consistently turning defensive plays into attacking plays.
Ryda Jordan: The Team’s rookie, Ryda played his first season of soccer picking up many new skills along the way. With his favourite position up in the forwards Ryda was always sure to let the boys know he was ready to receive the ball and continue on the attack. As his understanding of the game grew so too did Ryda’s confidence and he will be a positive contributor to his team next season.
WELL DONE BOYS !
