AL11 Season Report
PREMIERS
Having played the last few years without a coach, this year saw the AL11s spend up big to snare coach Bombay to a big contract. Coach Bombay taught the lads a few new tricks and it paid off, with the whole team performing well all season to remain undefeated.
It was a very satisfying season considering the amount of injuries we had, but everyone stood tall when we were down on troops and played some great football. There were some memorable games, a 3-2 thriller against Barden Ridge & 2-1 win against Nth Sutho was the season highlight with Lauchy making an amazing penalty save with 5 seconds to go, which won us the comp even though the round was abandoned, yes we still recognise the save Legend.
The Squad
Brett Gibbs: (Bretta) Consistent at the back repelling all that tried to get through.
Tim Woods: (Teach) Solid at the back until cut down with a leg injury, worked hard to get back and finish off a great season.
Mitchell Hore: (Rally King) Swept up really well at the back, mopping up anyone who broke through our defence.
Lauchy Baumert: (The Banker) Solid performances at the back when the dreaded hamstring held up.
Adam Logan: (Adam Cahill) very solid at the back and occasionally bobbed up as our secret weapon up front creating goals.
Scott Brandley: (No Ankles) Mr Versatility playing both sides of the field at the back and up front before the dreaded ankle injury.
Sean Novy: (Novy) Mr Perpetual motion running till he couldn’t run any more, then running some more. Won his fair share of contests too.
Brent Wallis: (Bent) Helped control the middle, also running himself into the ground, until injury interrupted his season. Scored a screamer from 30m out.
Mitchell Spencer: (Lumber Jack) controlled the right side of the paddock with many incisive runs and a couple of good goals.
Josh McMahon: (The Van) was asked to rotate between fullback & midfield and did a great job winning tackle after tackle. Also scored a screamer (ha ha)
Steven Woods: (Woodsy) gave our opposition a few headaches up front, making his presence felt in more ways than one. Scored a couple of good goals.
Joel Steward: (Moe) Made his presence felt when on the park, but also had his fair share of injuries.
Daniel Hitchings: (No Show) had some good showings scoring a couple of goals, one from the sideline.
Chris Hill: (Chillin) was very chilled in the middle of the park, luring his opponents into a false sense of security.
Will Russell: (Maverick) gave our opponents many a headache, never giving up and putting plenty of pressure on. Maverick was our top goal scorer with some memorable efforts.
Lauchy Keough: (Legend) kept us safe at the back, keeping 10 clean sheets in 12 games and making an incredible penalty save in our most exciting game of the season against Nth Sutho.
Rob Wallis: (F45 VC) spent more time on the side line than on the park due to injury, but was solid when the boots were on.
Jason Brandley: (Daddy Day Care) got a couple of games in before having to head to the Sunshine State, before returning for the grand finale (last game).
I hope you guys all enjoyed the season, I thoroughly enjoyed the year coaching a great bunch of guys, doing everything I asked, except maybe getting fit (missed to many training sessions due to the weather) so imagine what you guys could do if you get fit.
Congratulations Guys on a great season Undefeated Premiers.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with defending your title.
