SWE Season Report
SWE 3’s 2025
Welcome to the Spare Parts Department
Where we piece together a team—one injury at a time.
Welcome to the Spare Parts Department- AKA SWE 3’s 2025, where you’ll find all the bits and pieces needed to survive the 2025 season. If you follow our guide, you might just scrape together a functioning team of 2–5 players by the end—just don’t get too attached to any working limbs!
We kicked things off with a squad of 19 players, full of hope and ambition. Pre-season trial games were organised to get everyone warmed up and ready. But then… things started falling apart. Literally.
Injury #1: Merri
Before the season even started, Merri went down in the trial game with an ACL injury requiring surgery later on in the season. First player out. First knee gone.
Injury #2: Bianca
Next up, our new goalkeeper Bianca started settling in beautifully—until she snapped the tendons off her ankle. Off in an ambulance and into surgery. That’s one ankle down.
As the season began, sideline comments were full of hope:
“We’re feeling great!”
“We’re doing so well!”
“It’s because we have so many subs—we actually get to rest during the game!”
Well… we spoke too soon.
Injury #3: Val
Just when we were finding our rhythm, Val’s good knee gave out. Off for an MRI, however she’s hobbled through the rest of the season, often in goals. That’s knee number two gone.
Injury #4: Christine
Christine was on fire, scoring left and right—until her final goal, which came just before someone landed on her, tearing her meniscus off the bone. Surgery to follo. Knee number three bites the dust.
Injury #5: Romana
Shifting focus from limbs to organs, new recruit Romana was ruled out with a heart arrhythmia. Season over, surgery required.
Injury #6: Kayla
Kayla played for weeks with a blood clot in her leg before finally getting it checked. Her season ended abruptly too.
Injury #7: Lauren
Then Lauren decided to break her wrist—on the very day she was heading to the snow for a week! No surgery this time, but still out.
Injury #8: Charlotte
In the first two minutes of what was to be our last game of the season due to wash outs, Charlotte tore her hamstring. Because of course she did.
And to top it all off—Vanessa finally scored a goal… for the other team. We cheered anyway!
By the end, most of us were patched-up, strapped-in, and soldering on. But through it all, the players who remained intact always gave it their all.
Looking back on a broken season that started with such promise, one thing is crystal clear: we are the best bunch of girls, led by two of the very best. We support each other, we laugh with together, we play great football—and turn up for each other every week especially when training is at the bowlo!! The support that you get from a team like this is the best therapy anyone could ask for!!
Next year will hopefully see the return of some that we missed. Its only up from here!! Bring on 2026!!
