W10A Season Report
This year saw two separate teams coming together to form a new one. We were kept in A grade and went about building the team week by week. All the girls worked at getting to know the new players from each side and how we would work together.
Our season started slowly with a number of losses in our first few games. So at training we got back to basics. All the girls worked really hard on improving their skills and we worked towards identifying the individual positions that suited each player the best.
I would like to thank all the girls who at times played in positions that they may not have liked or preferred, but they did it for the greater good of the team, and learnt a thing or two at the same time.
Despite our losses, as a coach I was really proud to see almost full attendance every week at training and a fantastic attitude every Saturday as the team ran out on the field supporting each other and improving week by week.
By the end of the year we had become more competitive and despite losing a few games due to the opposition’s bad sportsmanship of playing people in the offside position we kept at it.
Fantastic to see how the year finished up and I hope all the girls will be keen to come back and continue what they started next year. Everyone improved themselves and as a team.
Thanks to all the supportive parents and family who cheered on the sidelines and to our manager Anne.
