W12A Season Report
Lilah: Congratulations on another fantastic year. You have so much enthusiasm and energy for soccer. You are a true leader in every way, that’s why I chose you as Captain. You lead by example on and off the field. You are such a kind and caring person and it’s been a pleasure to coach you this year.
Thanks again and keep on smiling.
Jaz: This year you really grew in maturity and backed yourself to take up a new position from last year. You absolutely killed your sweeper position. So calm when you get the ball. Not panicking, controlling the ball, running in the right direction, lifting your head and passing down the line. Turning defense into attack, not just booting the ball.
Well done and it was a pleasure to coach you this year.
Emily: Congratulations Em for getting into A grade. New to the club but fitting in very well. You are a quiet person and that is one thing I would like you to practice being louder on the field. Your voice is extremely important when it comes to a team sport. Communication is essential, letting players know that you are open, and they can pass to you or letting someone know you are passing the ball to them. I saw a huge improvement in your skills as the season progressed. Keep practicing your touch and passing in the off season. Thanks for a great year.
MG: Another great season for the Eagles. You found a home at right back and nailed it! Even putting you at right midfield at one stage, you scored 2 goals against Grays Pt but you still wanted me to put you into right back again where you felt comfortable. You have a big personality that likes to have fun, which is very important in life. Keep smiling & laughing, MG. Thanks for a great year and for all your efforts throughout the year.
Kate: Unfortunately, your season was cut very short with your knee injury. Never have I seen someone not want to go in goals so much. You could see your knees trembling, especially the game against Georges River where you had to be in for the whole game. Thanks for coming to support your team after your injury.
Work hard in the off season and I hope you recover quickly.
Nola: Another bang-up season for our left back. You had an incredible season. So calm and decisive in your decisions. You brought everything we did at training to the game, played the way you faced, triangular balls, dropping your shoulder, fooling the opposition.
Your throw ins were amazing. You nullified any attack that came your way. I haven’t seen a team so behind a player to get their 1st goal as our team showed when you got pushed up the field against Grays Pt.
The goal is coming Nola. I know it. Thanks for being an integral part of the team.
Harper: First year of the A’s. Congratulations.
You are a very determined player. I see how much focus you have when you play. Still raw as a player, as I know you have not long been playing soccer. You have come leaps and bounds throughout the season. Your dribbling skills are fantastic. I love how you listen to instructions on what I want you to do and then you try to put them in place the next time it arises.
Taking on private training shows a lot of dedication to the sport and your personal improvement. You banged in plenty of goals this year, including some cracking penalties, so you should be very proud of yourself.
Thanks for a great year and keep looking forward.
Asia: Congratulations on another fruitful season. I know having me as coach is difficult at times, but I really saw you grow and understand that I was your coach and treated you just like I did all the other players in the team.
You had a great year and put quite a few in the back of the year. What I loved the best was the pressure that you put on the opposition, especially when they had goal kicks – “Defence starts with attack”. Well done on another fine season.
Sophia: After a long chase to get you to jump clubs and grades to join our W12A’s, I really think it was worth it for everyone. You are an extremely focused, skillful and talented player. Great skills, dribbling, running, shooting and passing. Fantastic vision too. Such a team player. Well done on a great season and I see you going along way with your determination. I hope to see you next year now that you have that Eagles jumper 😊
Jade: Congratulations on a fine season. Left mid, you made your home, but you filled in at centre mid and striker during the year. Such a consistent player, working so well with Nola, Lilah and the strikers down the left flank. You continued to improve as the season went on and as you grew into the year. Well done on another solid year. Continue to train in the off season working on speed and aggression. Try it on your brother in the backyard, not your parents. See you next year.
Ily: It was a hard season for you as you knew you were unable to train, but when we did see you at games, you always made an impact. You worked hard for the team every time you took the field. Thank you so much for putting your hand up to be keeper for at least ½ of every game. Also, for full games against the strong and difficult teams, as well as State Cup & the finals. I have all trust in you when you are in goals. When you are on the field, you are a fierce competitor and speedster. Thanks again for all of your efforts.
Dylan: A challenging start to the year for you. Illness struck you early in the year, which made it extremely difficult for you to play. It was a training by training and game by game situation for you. It was an amazing feeling seeing your health improve, your energy levels and your cheekiness return (lucky me). You returned to yourself and improved in each game that you played. Continue to be yourself (a pest haha). Thank you for a great year.
Sienna: One of the most laid-back kids I know. Some say lazy, I say sometimes haha. I know that you live and breathe football and everyone can see that too. Right midfield was perfect for you. The cohesion and connection that you had on the right side with Soph and MG was outstanding. You scored plenty of goals, but the best was in the semi against Gymea – an absolute cracker!
At the beginning of the season, I had you in an unfamiliar position of stopper as we had injuries at the start of the season. Thanks for listening to me when I was giving instructions and advice, you then went onto try and put them into practice. Keep striving and keep learning.
Mila: Well done for another season. You improved as the season progressed. You were a regular at training, showing dedication to the team. You were someone that I had to keep an eye on as you don’t mind having a dance and pushing boundaries whenever you could. You contributed 3 goals this year, which you should be incredibly proud of. Thanks again for a great year.
What a fantastic 2024 you girls had. I don’t think you realised what you really achieved. 55 goals for and only 1 against (in the grand final) for the entirety of the season.
UNDEFEATED. MINOR PREMIERS. PREMIERS.
WINNER. WINNER. WINNER.
Mind boggling!
It was an absolute pleasure to coach you all and pass on my knowledge and love of football to you. It wasn’t just you learning from me, you all taught me plenty as well. As I said to you at training, I don’t know everything. I still learn new things every day. So, keep this in mind as it will take you a long way in life.
You are all such beautiful people. You listen to instructions and go out and put what you have learned in training into the game. You are all such kind, caring and thoughtful girls, to yourselves, to your teammates and to me. I love every minute of coaching you. I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you Sarah for being the manager. All your time and effort in keeping us informed and on top of everything. There is more behind the scenes that people don’t see. Thank you for making those fantastic ‘player of the match’ gifts as well. You made it easy for me to focus on coaching the girls.
Thank you parents for bringing up such beautiful girls – they are amazing humans! Thank you for helping the club with volunteering for club duties. Without volunteers, there wouldn’t be a club, so thank you all for doing your part to help.
I can’t tell you how proud and privileged I am to be the coach. It is like one massive family. Have a fantastic off season everyone and I cannot wait to see what 2025 brings.
Love Coach Trent xo
