W13A Season Report
W13A – PREMIERS
Well what a fantastic year. A newly assembled team. A big change to the majority of the girls taking on a new adventure in life with most heading into High School, a whole different world, as well this year. We all gelled together as one to fight together until the end and it showed how we fought for each other and myself to win the GF 1-0 over our local rivals, Bosco. How sweet it was!
EMILY
Another great year for you. You played in a few positions – centre back, right back and keeper at the back end of the season. We are so thankful for many match winning saves, especially against Gymea in the Final when you pulled off some crackers. We thank you so much for the year you have had. Well done!
NOLA
Solid as a rock at left back. Reading the game and beating the opposition to the ball constantly. A great combination on the left side with Jade had us shored up. You took full advantage of pushing up in attack this year, adding four goals to our season tally with two goals in consecutive games. You are a pleasure to coach and your smile and attitude to life always made me happy and smile every time we crossed paths. Keep going Nolsie. I’m proud of you.
JAZ
A slightly different year for you. I threw you in the deep end moving you from the backs into centre mid. You had some success in this position, scoring quite a few goals, but you never felt too comfortable. Dropping you back to centre back where you felt at home, is where you started to shine again. Ever dependable and solid as a rock in the centre of defence with MG. You girls provided a formidable backline. Thanks for another great season Jaz.
MG
A new position for you also this year in the centre of our defence line. Someone who marshalled everyone at the back. The never ending chatter lifting the team every game. Ever dependable alongside Jaz, made you two a force to be reckoned with. It has been a pleasure coaching you and thanks for nearly sending me broke with the cross bar challenge at training.
PHOEBE
New to the team this year but we knew who you were after filling in for us last year and scoring the winning goal against our arch rivals, Gymea. A very quiet achiever in every way. Quiet as a mouse at the start of the season, you grew in confidence as the year went on. You personally shone through smiling and cheekiness crept in. It was wonderful to see you listen to what I wanted you to do and you put it into practice. Solid in the right back position supporting the right flank. Your keeping was outstanding also and we are very thankful for that too. Thanks for a great year!
JADE
Trusty Jade on the left wing, the combination with Nolsie and Abby down that side was fantastic. Your hustle and bustle with the opposition was great to watch. The amount of corners you won was outstanding. Your game in the Final win against Gymea was the best game I have seen you play. A great goal topped it off too. Well done and thanks for another great year.
ROSE
First season with the Eagles and first year of finals football and you took the chocolates. You have to be happy with that. A very quiet person and understandably so, not knowing anyone had to be hard. The girls welcomed you in like you had always been there. You worked hard through the year and took on all my advice. I believe you became a much stronger player by the end of the year. You were very composed and played the way that you faced. Those early morning games just weren’t your go, but after 10am you were a go. Thanks for the year and all of your efforts.
CHLOE
Another fresh face to the Eagles. You came on in leaps and bounds. You are on the rise with your strength, control and passing when unfortunately a badly broken arm during State Cup stopped you in your tracks. Such a shame. We were all so upset for you and for you to miss the second half of the season. Thank you for coming to the games and supporting your team. Congratulations on winning the GF as you were a massive part of the team, even if you weren’t on the pitch. Keep working hard and come back bigger and stronger next year.
ASIA
I know it’s difficult having your Dad as the coach, but I believe you had a great season. You found yourself moved from striker to the brains of the centre midfield. A very difficult and tiring position. I couldn’t be happier for you as you spread your wings and lead by example. Thanks for another great season. That’s two from two GFs for Dad & Daughter.
MILLA
A welcome addition to the W13A’s. You are a pleasure to coach. Your hard work, determination, and physicality made it easy for me to coach you. When I instructed you to do something and advised you why I wanted you to do it, you were always attentive and understanding plus you always said thank you after I finished talking to you. So kind and polite. You are a very versatile player coming from the backline, I threw you into the mids and wings and you thrived. I couldn’t be prouder of you and keep smiling.
DYLAN
Another great year for you. I moved you from the backs to the right wing and you sure did spread your wings. Your dribbling and driving at the opposition tormented them. A strong performance each game. A big thank you for being in goals quite a bit too, especially when you weren’t feeling great. You carved up Gymea in the second half of that 3-2 loss but you had plenty of praise from the opposition’s parents too. Well done.
JAY
What can I say about you Jay? It was fun to coach you this year. You were constantly smiling and having a laugh. You are such a kind hearted person too. So lovely. Then you got out onto the field and you weren’t worried about putting your body on the line. I believe you pissed quite a few opponents off. You hustled and bustled every moment that you were on the pitch and a couple of goals to boot. I loved hearing from you after you came off about what the opposition were saying and doing out there. Hilarious! Thank you for a wonderful year. Keep being you.
HAYLEY
Coming from C grade to A grade is a huge jump. You have so much potential that it isn’t funny. You are a very strong player when you put your mind to it. When you are on – holy crap! Your driving and shooting are very strong. I would like to see you start believing in yourself even more as the sky is the limit for you. Just believe, work hard and you will go a long way. Thanks for a great year.
ABBY
A cracking year from you. You started the season off with your head down a bit. Once you got your head down, it was difficult for me to pull you out of it. As the season went on, you really matured. Seriously impressive. You grew so much in your mentality and began to shine. Your work ethic on the field is outstanding. You grew from being an individual to a team player, benefiting you and the team no end. Your strength driving with the ball, cutting the ball back and shooting were fantastic. It has been a pleasure to coach you. Keep listening to advice and take it onboard. Thanks for a great year Abby Grace.
SARAH
A big thank you to you, Sarah, for everything. Especially the things we don’t see. We couldn’t have had the season without you keeping us all organised and where we needed to be on time. Cheers!
PARENTS
Thank you to all of the parents for supporting your beautiful young ladies. Getting them to training and games. Thanks for helping out for duty on game days. Clubs and football don’t happen without volunteers and the club runs on volunteers and every little bit helps. Thanks for trusting me to guide the girls on their soccer endeavours. It has been a pleasure to pass on my knowledge and skill to them. I have enjoyed the season immensely. I hope I was a positive mentor to your daughter this year and I hope I will be for years to come.
