W30C Season Report
Another short season so I will keep this short!!
Rain delays kept us from gaining momentum in what was going to be an awesome year in the senior women’s comp!!
After playing in the over 40’s comp for a number of years, we made the decision to recruit some younger newbies so that we could field a team in the senior women’s comp, we didn’t expect to be graded into SWC but in the true spirit of our team we gave it a good shot. Had we gained that momentum, I think the end result would have been a lot different.
We welcomed the young legs of Renee, Naomi and Charlotte who saved the old girls and proved to be valuable assets to the team.
Ash joined us half way through the half season and proved to be another valuable asset!!
Nicky’s old legs returned and I think we all agree that they were the best old legs out there. I’m sure most of the young girls out there would be in awe of the fitness and level of skill that Helen brings to the game!!
Bel and Amanda were back and are saying it will be their last hurrah…. We are very convincing though so we hope they have one more full season left in them!!
Val is Val and never stops running, most of the time we all just stand and watch her do her thing, although she was the only family member to remain on a noody run this year, she always gives 110% and will be playing till she is 80!!
With the strength of Christie, Clare, Mez, Suz and Nads in defence the young opposition were often left wondering what the hell happened and how were they going to break down that wall!!
Sarah, Loz, and Ava and held our mids tight and held their own against the youngins. Never giving up and always running their hearts out!!
Christine is our little pest and we love her for it!! She can talk the opposition under the table and gets under their skin, then takes off when they least expect it!!
We lost Megs half way through the half season when she relocated and we will miss her dearly!!
All in all we just love playing together. We may have some old legs but we still know how to show up and compete!!
It has been a pleasure coaching and Managing such an awesome bunch of ladies this year. Look out next year, once we gain that momentum (and get through the dreaded round 2 injuries) we will be on fire and ready to win!!
