W7F Season Report
A highly entertaining season from our girls who were all playing in their very first season of soccer. They showed tremendous growth and conversational skills throughout the season, cartwheeling their way through opposition teams with gusto, often playing with 1 player short and without a rest due to no subs. The after match killer pythons didn’t stand a chance!
Highlights including a terrific win in the first game with every player chipping in with a goal. A washing machine clogging slog through the puddles and mud of a treacherous Engadine pitch. Many net rippling goals, last gasp tackles and the signature W07F “backheel”, lastly who could forget the endless saga of who’s turn is it to take the throw in…
Phia Theissen
Daring defender Phia, dripping with natural talent, took it personally when the opposition had the audacity to attempt to take the ball past her. Using her roadrunner like speed she would chase them down and dispatch the ball into the next postcode. Loved to chip in with the odd goal here or there also.
Olivia Turvey
Our very own miss fix it, smashing in goals, dominating the midfield or defending our goal like a wild animal, she does it all. Blessed with agility, strength and a killer smile Olivia gets the job done wherever or whenever it is needed.
Lucy Stringfellow
The superboot, with her knack for long range goals. Lucy loves to get stuck in with shin pad shattering tackles and was the originator of our teams trademark backheel, much to her fathers displeasure. Lucy showed huge improvement over the year and will be back better than ever next season.
Matilda Atkins
A goal scoring star with at least one hat trick to her name this season, she gave defenders nightmares with her pace, power and accuracy. A very determined girl with a touch of pizazz means that Matilda always has the crowd on their feet.
Emily Marks
Emily is a dribbling dynamo, weaving her way through the opposition like her dad through the BBQ line. She runs and runs all day through rain, mud and the scorching sun. When Emily develops the shot to match her quick wit it will rain goals.
Thanks to Lyndall for taming our wild bunch, running training sessions like a well oiled machine, making all our games so enjoyable and fun for the girls, and most of all for surviving the season with her sanity intact. On behalf of all our families i would like to commend Lyndall for her time and effort it is very much appreciated.
Finally thanks to thanks to all the parents and families for your efforts, making trainings easier by bringing siblings to boost numbers and cheering on the girls on gamedays which really made the games more fun and enjoyable for everyone.
