W8B Season Report
What. A. Season!
The W08B girls survived the screamiest coach in the history of the game, but were stoked with the world’s greatest manager in Mon. The kind of manager who laminates the gala day schedule! Mon introduced The Whiteboard of Position Visualisation and made the girls feel like they were the Matildas.
Parents—way more than a sideline crew! Always stepping up when needed, helping with training and coaching, and always the girls’ biggest cheer squad. Lucky bunch of girls!
With only 8 players this season, the team got match-fit quick. No hiding, no resting, just hustle. Every player wanted game time, every player gave it their all! Special thanks to Jana Bryant, who stepped up from the U6s as our regular Super Sub. Loved her hard drives toward goal, backing up the strikers like a pro and bringing her best self to our training sessions!
This comp gave us everything: epic wins, close losses, nail-biting draws. Through it all, the girls learned so much, improved their game, and found their place on the field, with the love for the game never wavering. By season’s end, they weren’t just improving as individuals—they were a team with grit, and plenty of giggles. They are a perfect balance of fun and fierce – well done W08B’s on your 2025 season!
Amelia “The Wall” MacCann
Fearless defender from game one—Amelia locked herself into the backline and never left. Nothing got past her, and she racked up save after save like a pro. Her serious game face made attackers nervous before she even touched the ball. Amelia was the steady shield of the team and loved nothing more than shutting down the opposition’s best striker.
Edie “Speedy Chats” Fitz-Gibbon
The team wildcard—sometimes doing cartwheels, sometimes making friends mid-match—but when Edie switched on, she turned the wing into her racetrack. She found her groove as a midfielder and saved her best till last with a dominant final game. Using her speed and grit, she weaved past defenders and fired in some brilliant crosses that gave her teammates golden chances. A well placed touch amidst the chaos was an Edie special!
Emily “Mighty Marks” Marks
From the first whistle, Emily tore across the field like a force of nature, covering both attack and defence. Fierce and fearless, she claimed her territory and made sure opponents thought twice before stepping in. Emily’s determination meant the team always had a fighter in the thick of the action – so proud of her shielding body positioning. She left it all on the pitch, and protected the teams possession like no other!
Izzy “Laid-back Lightening” Okacha
Izzy played the game with cool confidence, cruising around until the moment came to unleash her fierce side. Then it was pure chaos for the opposition as she tore up the field. She was an all-rounder who could adapt to whatever the team needed – even a dash from goals to check on a player down! Izzy had a way of making hard work look easy—and pulled off some outstanding play!
Lara “Fancy Feet” Percy
With footwork like a dancer and the grit of a warrior, Lara made defending and attacking look stylish. Lara played with flair and made beating defenders look easy—half the time we were left wondering, where did she even learn those moves?” Always stepping up with her serious game face. Her fancy moves out manoeuvred opponents who never saw it coming — calm on the outside, lethal on the ball.
Olivia “Striker Supreme” Bryant
Olivia lived for one thing—scoring goals—and she made it happen over and over again. Always first to ask for striker and never afraid to take the shot, she racked up goals all season. With lightning speed she’d run onto the ball and blast it past the goalie before they even knew what happened. Olivia also had a knack for casually declaring her competitive streak with a nonchalant shrug of the shoulders, then backing it up with a storm of goals. She was the spark plug who kept the scoreboard ticking and the team’s energy high.
Phia “The Keeper Queen” Theissen
From game one, Phia declared herself goalie—and no one dared argue. With confidence as big as Maui himself, she stood tall in the box and made it clear: nothing was getting past her. Fierce, sassy, and fearless, she doesn’t tolerate nonsense on the field and always got the job done. Whether she was in goals or getting amongst it on the field, Phia brought power, presence, and plenty of attitude that lifted the whole team.
Zahli “The Rocket” Hartigan
Once Zahli broke into open space, there was no catching her—speed, power, and a big boot to match. Goalies stood no chance when “The Rocket” was on target. She brought fire and fight right through the season! Leaving us in no doubt of her unstoppable drive in the final match to keep us in the game. Zahli turned the field into her runway and blasted the team to glory on more than one occasion!
