Presidents Report 2026

Glen Tonna

The 2026 was another impressive year for our club with some terrific results on and off the park.

With the teething problems of 2025 and the new registration system now under control, the preseason ran a lot smoother. Although the late running new light project held up some valuable time for ground preparation work, but all was finished before the season commenced.

The new seats on Anzac 3 have been a big hit, thanks to Peter & Mitch Hore and the Working Bee team for getting that done.

The annual Miniroo gala night was another hit, thank you to Cam Smyth-Gapps for a well-run evening. It’s a great way for our junior Miniroos to prepare for the season.

Our Nursery Squad continued to thrive in 2026, remaining highly popular within the local community and giving young children their first introduction to football. 2026 we had 104 registrations. Congratulations to Jen Gerling and your amazing coaches on the development of this group. Regrettably we say goodbye to Molly in 2027 but we are lucky enough to have plenty of talented young coaches looking to step up.

In 2026 we created our own “Digital team” who were tasked with updating the website, posting on social media and expanding our social media platforms to include Instagram. Well, done to Tom Findlay, Kathleen Marr and Julie O’Rielly. The feedback the club has received has been extremely positive.

We do have 3 senior committee members who are leaving their current roles, so I would like to thank them.

Firstly, to Keli Henson and Dayna Knight thank you for the past 10 years organising the canteen. Your contributions to the role have been greatly appreciated. Even though you relinquish this role in 2027, the processes you have implemented will continue to assist the club and greatly help out the person or people who come on board to run the canteen moving forward.

And to Pete Feehan who has been our registrar for the past 2 seasons. Thank you for your hard work on the implementation of the new registration system and your patience with our club members who repeatedly asked so many repetitive questions from you over the last 2 years.

I know all 3 of you will be staying on the with the club or committee in some capacity, we look forward to seeing you again in 2027.

Thank you to our wonderful committee, who are committed to working hard on continued improvement for the club members and our facilities. This includes looking at our Brand, new training posts at Anzac and new goal posts down at Dobell.

We continue to appeal for new committee members to assist us to deliver facilities our members want and deserve. If this is of interest to you, please see Col Berry or myself.

On the field, EEFC recorded strong results and we continue to work on developing our playing group and providing opportunities for our players, grow and enjoy their football.

EEFC appreciates the hard work and support of all staff members at the Sutherland Shire Football Association, Sutherland Shire Referees Association and the Shared Services team.

Till 2027, take care.
