11A Season Report
Our 11A’s had a stellar season in 2023. It was a pretty evenly matched competition and our boys really held their own. They all developed really well throughout the season and as a squad there were some real moments of absolute brilliance during the year – as coaches, we couldn’t have been prouder of the boys.
Kai was a rock at the back for us all year and when he got the opportunity to push forward, he regularly did it with real flair. He showed up for battle every single week and I know that he did his dad proud.
Billy was our secret weapon… and wasn’t he a weapon! I think the opposition underestimated him at times but when he came flying in for the 50/50 challenges, watch out, because he was never going to come off second best.
Jet was an absolute superstar in goals for us this year and he just got better and more confident as the season went on. We lost count how many times he saved our bacon. He was ferocious at times, putting his body on the line for his team mates.
Ethan was our quiet achiever this season. He didn’t make a fuss, he just got stuck in! A couple of cracking goals during the year put the exclamation on the season that he had. He put in a solid performance week in and week out.
D’Arcy developed some amazing flair this year and when he decided to turn that on, no one was able to stop him. Solid in defense and wicked in attack, he owned that wing and became a pivotal part of the squad as the season went on.
Zack was as dangerous this year as he has ever been. He bossed the middle of the park, was a defensive rock when we needed him and slotted them home with the best of them. When he wasn’t on the park he was well and truly missed.
Mitch was a machine and an all-round entertainer. With the ability to fill a gaps for us anywhere on the park; from the goals, back line to attack, he was the ultimate team player and had a presence that the opposition must have certainly been petrified of.
Oscar had breakout year this season. His confidence was sky high from round 1 and he just got better and better as the year went on. His vision and ability in front of goal was a treat to watch and some of those goals were simply stunning.
Carter… our man-machine. Hard as nails when we needed him and then light on his toes to turn defense into attack. I don’t think he had a bad game all season and is well and truly on his way to becoming a superstar.
Raife battled hard this year. I know at times it wasn’t easy and you could see the frustration on his face, but when we needed him, that trademark strike was released and he proved to everyone (including himself) that he can drive them home like few others.
Daniel was unstoppable this season. Mazy runs through the entire opposition, dominating the centre of the park alongside Zack, banging goals in from anywhere and just plain dominating. He was a pleasure to watch.
In saying that, all the boys were an absolute pleasure to watch this year. They played hard, they played some stunning football, they played fair and most importantly, they played as a team and for their team. All the parents should be incredibly proud of these boys this season.
Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and supporters this season. We regularly had the loudest support, the most enjoyable and at times, the most comical!
Thanks finally to our boys, they have two very proud coaches and we can’t wait to see how these young men progress when they take to the full field in 2024.
Enjoy the off-season and hopefully we see everyone again next year!
