W14A Season Report
This year the team moved up from B grade to A grade and the girls jumped out of the blocks early but then found themselves realizing that they needed to work that little bit harder. In saying that the girls didn’t look out of place and were always very competitive. The girls always worked hard at training (although some of them like to talk) and embraced any new drills or ideas that were thrown at them. This attitude was the same on game day and whether it was an injury, someone away or playing in an unfamiliar position they always gave 100%.
We were only one win away from playing finals this year and with more hard work, training and developing their skills, I believe playing finals next year is definitely achievable. I hope you all enjoyed the ride as much as I did, you are a great bunch of young ladies, and it was a pleasure being your manager/ coach this year.
Great season girls and I am very proud of your effort. Hope to see you all back next year.
Josh,
W14A Player Report
Neve Grinham – As usual terrorised teams on that right side this year with her speed and skill until she was injured. As our captain, Neve lead by example and had the girls ready to play on gameday. Good season Neve.
Abbey Weppler – Abbey was our attacking midfielder this season and always worked hard trying to score goals but also setting them up. Whether it was organising an attacking play from the middle or taking the defence on by herself she was always a threat. Awesome work Abbey
Bria Campbell – Bria was our goalie this year organizing the defence, barking orders to the girls, and putting herself in the right position for saving goals. Always working hard to improve her game. Good job Bria
Lilla Spencer – Another solid season from our everywhere girl. Lilla played in the midfield this season working hard with our defence trying to halt the oppositions progress and with our attackers trying to get them back on the attack. Just needs to hold her position more. Another busy season
Jayde Bowron – Jayde had another solid season playing as one of our forwards finding the back of the net on most occasions. With her ball control and speed always look likely to score. Jayde you just need to kick the ball HARDER !! Great work Jayde
Ryley Bowron – Ryley played as our left midfielder always looking to get involved and create opportunities working hard to get the ball down the field to make it easier for our forwards. Ryley was again very solid this year with her good positioning on the field and ability to find the right pass. Great job Ryley
Sachi Estrellanes – Sachi is a key part of our defensive team and played her role as our mid defender brilliantly, reading the play and stopping the opposition from getting threw and effectively clearing the ball when needed. Another solid season Sachi.
Ella Royle – This season Ella was part of our defensive line and found herself playing as our left defender and once again did a solid job halting the progress of the opposition and clearing the ball with her strong left boot. Cracking season Ella
Evie Moore – Evie’s second year with the team and with her speed & skill was a handful for all oppositions whether in attack or defence. She had a very solid season and contributed to the team every week and always put in a solid effort. Good season Evie.
Lexci Twigg – Lexci played up forward and in defence this year always putting everything into it. With good speed and skill, she always had the opposition on their toes. Great effort Lexci
Lily Blissenden – Lily had another solid season playing as our defensive sweeper / fullback and stopped a lot of attacking raids from the opposition. She also kept our defensive line in order and when moved into the midfield late in season was also affective moving the ball forward and providing good service to the forwards. Outstanding, keep it up Lily
Malia Birchall – What do you say about Malia, our defensive weapon with her ability to keep pressure on an attacker and to then steal the ball from them and gain possession was unbelievable. Always put in a big effort. Top season Malia
Alana Bannan – Alana rejoined the team this year playing most of the season in the midfield. She worked hard all year no matter what position she was put in. With her aggression and big boot, the ball was always heading towards the oppositions goal (loved the free kicks you took looking to score). Terrific season Alana.
Sophie Love – It was Sophie’s first year with the team and she slotted in seamlessly. Whether she played up forward, in the midfield or defence Sophie always gave it 100% and showed plenty of toughness never making it easy for the opposition. Good season Sophie.
Sienna Wilson – It was also Sienna’s first year with the team bringing a lot of speed and skill. Playing as a forward or midfield she was always dangerous and a threat to the opposition. Always worked hard and was a welcomed addition to the team. Super season Sienna
