W6C Season Report
What a year it has been for our mighty W06C girls.
For all of our girls this was their first year of soccer and the transformation we all have seen from Round 1 at Gymea to the Gala Day at Marton FC has been amazing.
Below is a little write up for each girl and the highlight for me as coach from the season:
Audrey – You have come leaps and bounds, I just wish the season didn’t end as we saw the best of you in the back half of the season, that smile on your face after the goal at the Gala Day 10/10
Charlotte – A late registration but didn’t miss a beat, the goal at Cronulla RSL was one of many this season but that game you rose to the occasion and showed off your dribbling and shooting abilities.
Charli – Playing up in age didn’t stop you from getting in there and never shying away from a tackle, your goal against Bangor will forever be a memory that sticks with me.
Hailey – Our MVP, you were everywhere on that field throwing your body around, never afraid to get that ball and go, highlight had to be that muddy puddle you landed in at Anzac.
Kaia – Always learning and developing your skills throughout the year, you showed you can play anywhere on the field – some of your goals early in the season stood out and secured wins for us
Meleah – You came out of your shell and we got to see your pace and big kicks, the future is bright for you, the sideline kick in from halfway which hit the post was a great moment this year for me.
Shaelynn – After one season of soccer I can already see you as a Matilda’s sweeper, you broke the hearts of the other teams strikers as you made goal line clearances all year – too many highlights.
This year taught me that soccer isn’t just about the result on the field but the results off the field and for our 7 x girls who came into the season as 7 individuals they have come away from the season as a great team and all great friends.
As I sign off for the year I want to thank all of the girls for giving me the chance to coach them and for the respect they showed at training and the games, they all have bright futures ahead of them and hopefully some Matildas.
Coach Steve
