U21B Season Report
That’s it for the 2024 season. I’ve gotta say this season was a fun and challenging experience. I coached most of these boys at a different club last year and after coming so close to winning the comp last year, the boys wanted to come over to this club and take on a new and fresh challenge. There were some boys that left the squad from last year and with some new boys coming into the squad this year, it was time to redeem ourselves and win this season.
All the boys were very keen and to have most of the boys at training every week was very good throughout this season. We had a slow start to the season though by losing our first two games which were very tough and with games postponed due to wet weather. The boys then started getting into the rhythm and played really good football and started winning games and to finish 2nd at the end of the regular season and to make finals was great and what I expected from the boys.
The boys knew that the finals were gonna be tough, but they were up for it. We played Bosco in the semifinal who defeated us at the start of the season. In a very close game, the final score ended up being 0-0. They finished higher than us so that meant they got through to the grand final, but we still had a chance to get in the grand final. We played Grays Point the following week and we had beaten them twice before in the normal season, but the game was still not gonna be easy to win. It was a great game and after extra time we won 2-1. So, it was the rematch with bosco in the grand final and the boys were ready to win the grand final to redeem themselves from last year. Unfortunately, we fell short at the end losing 2-1 after conceding a last minute goal which was disappointing.
These boys should be very proud of themselves of what they have achieved and accomplished this year cause they have definitely made me proud but there’s always next year and with them moving up to All Age next year as well they will have a good chance to win it.
Thank you for a great season!
