11c Finding Their Wings: The Eagles’ Season of Growth
The last match of the season was a showcase of progress.
Playing away to Cronulla Seagulls, Engadine Eagles U11C’s moved the ball like never before. Sharp, confident passes cutting through the field, unlike the early-season chaos of aimless kicks, this was football with purpose.
One touch to the left, a quick switch to the right, then a clever flick down the middle. The boys are finally working as a team and reading the game perfectly, knowing their positions inside and out. The opposition is chasing shadows. A final pass slipped through the gap, and with perfect timing, a screaming shot. Goal! The game finished 1- 4. A statement that the Eagles are ready for the bigger field next year.
A Tough Start and Finding Their Feet
The season began with a change: five new players and a promotion to B grade. But the jump became big. Six straight losses sapped confidence, and suddenly the boys looked out of their depth. With plenty of talent but no cohesion, they overcomplicated their play and tried to do it all alone. The mojo was gone, and frustration grew.
The Reset – Back to Basics
Week by week, the focus shifted to getting the fundamentals right. Training sessions became hard and rigorous. Ball control, passing with purpose, moving into space, and working as a unit. The change was clear. Intensity lifted, and the Eagles became a side no one wanted to face. Games grew tighter, wins started to stack up, and hard-fought draws showed our mental toughness. When losses came, it was only to a strike out of nowhere or a keeper having the game of his life.
Bit by bit, belief returned, and the boys started to back themselves again.
A Team Transformed
The final stretch was something special. The last three games looked like B-grade football at its best with strong tackles, skilful runs, pinpoint corners, and powerful strikes. Most importantly, the boys were smiling again. They were enjoying their football, linking up beautifully, and showing just how far they had come.
A Team Transformed
From a shaky start to a powerful finish, the 2025 season was a story of growth and teamwork. The 11C Eagles didn’t just improve; they transformed into a talented, exciting side, playing beautiful football that families were proud to see.
