W9E Season Report
The 2025 season has been an enjoyable one. We had roughly the same team as last year with some new additions just finding their feet which was fantastic.
We wanted to work on finding a shape, trusting each other to receive and pass the ball without crowding each other and making the most of space in front to advance up the pitch. Also having a good time, celebrating each others successes on the pitch and looking after our team mates when they were having a tough game.
We started the season well winning four of our first five games with some players showing a marked increase in skills and approach to the game. Then came the rain and out went the training. The middle of the season was pretty bleak, we struggled to score, there was lots of sickness and we lost our mojo but as the weather improved so did our results.
In many ways our season came down to our second to last game against Menai. They beat us by 3 goals in the earlier fixture playing with one less player for the first half. They made the pitch look huge by spreading out and staying in position and to be honest they could have scored more. Their coach was an ex professional player and she was big on discipline. We spent our training, working hard and trying to get into the right mindset for the game. I wanted my cartwheelers to go into Beast mode and they did. Focused and driven they all played their backsides off. At half time I said they could give me a makeover if they won. We scored the only goal and brought home the W and I wound up with my hair done and my face painted.
It was a great year and a huge thanks to the team manager Kath who kept us all organised and well informed throughout the season, we look forward to the next one.
