35F Season Report
Most commonly referred to as the best looking over 35s team the 35F squad of 19 gained three returning players in Plumber, Rob and Tim and two new arrivals Jarrod and Moët joining the crew.
So the second season of Dr Wheatley’s 3 year plan for 35F glory began.
Last year avoiding the wooden spoon in the final weekend of the season, this year championship contention was the aim. After a great victory vs second place, coming back from 2-0 down to 3-2 up in front of a partisan Eagles crowd and a run of 3 wins on the bounce, second place overall beckoned.
Unfortunately the season fizzled with a surprise loss by one goal against the bottom team and another close defeat leaving us in 5th place with six wins and six defeats.
The championship dream on hold until 2021.
Top scorer Mark “full name please” Hesse ran away with the golden boot. Ian “average every week” Jones was ElCapitano’s pick for player of the season despite losing his only captaining game 6-1 in my absence, a truly average vice-captain. Tim “I’m American and Angry” Benintendo with the goal of the season with a great run and finish.
Great bunch of lads and all raring tips go in 2021, a couple of savvy additions and some hard work on the summer soccer pitch and the Fs will be flying high next year.
Regards Dr Rik Wheatley aka El Capitano
