AW6-3 Season Report

AW6-3 End of Season Report

The AW6-3s had a fantastic season, finishing as Minor Premiers after a consistently strong year. Unfortunately, our finals campaign came to an end in straight sets. While it was certainly a disappointing way to finish such a successful season, the team did a great job of celebrating the Minor Premiership and enjoying the achievement of a terrific regular season. There is no doubt the AW6-3s will be back next season with a vengeance!

We were led brilliantly throughout the season by our Captain and leading goal scorer, Teleah, who was a constant threat up front. Our Co-Captain, Aimee, was equally impressive from the back, providing plenty of leadership and helping anchor what was often a very solid defence.

If we had a trophy for our Most Improved Player it would of been extremely difficult. It would of been a split decision between Grace and Gemma, both of whom made fantastic progress throughout the season and deserve plenty of recognition for their efforts.

Our superstar goalkeeper Jess provided one of the highlights of the season when she decided to swap the gloves for a position up front — and promptly scored a goal! Clearly, there is no end to her talents.

Scarlett was another incredibly valuable player, filling in both as goalkeeper and on the left wing whenever we needed her. Her willingness to take on different roles was a huge asset to the team.

Sunny brought plenty of speed to the wing and also spent time up front, where she managed to get herself on the scoresheet with a well-deserved goal.

It was fantastic to welcome sisters Aly and Katey back after a year away. Both slotted back into the team really well. Aly contributed in midfield and up front, while Katie made the wing her own and had a strong return to the team.

Gen made the switch from the backs to the wing this season and did a great job adapting to her new role. She brought plenty of energy and was another player willing to do whatever the team needed.

Charlotte was her usual self — bringing plenty of energy, enthusiasm and personality to the team, while happily playing wherever she was needed. You always knew Charlotte would give it everything!

Ella was our speed machine through the midfield, using her pace to create opportunities and supply some great ball to Teleah up front.

In the middle of the park, Steph and Emily were the glue that helped hold the team together. Both worked incredibly hard, controlled the midfield and contributed goals throughout the season.

Taylah was another incredibly versatile player who could be relied upon wherever she was needed. Whether on the wing or up front, she consistently did a great job for the team.

At the back, Hannah was excellent at directing traffic and helping organise our defence. Alongside Aimee, Teagan and Tiarne, she was part of what became something of a brick wall at the back. They made life very difficult for opposing attackers all season.

And finally, we can’t forget Emsie and Georgie, who were off partying their way around Europe while the rest of the team stayed home doing the hard yards! Yes, you were missed… a little bit. We’re sure you were both very disappointed to miss out on all the hard work. 😉

Overall, it was a fantastic season for the AW6-3s. The Minor Premiership was a terrific reward for the team’s hard work, commitment and willingness to play for each other. Most importantly, the team had plenty of fun along the way, and that is what makes this group so enjoyable to coach.

Congratulations to all the players on a great season. Enjoy the break, recharge, and we’ll see you next season — hungrier, stronger and ready to have another crack!
